Abstract

1442680 Driving web rolls EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 Sept 1973 [3 Oct 1972] 45377/73 Heading B8R [Also in Division G2] A web roll 82, Fig. 2, in a motion film projector is driven at two different speeds by a drive including a drive member 10, formed by a shaft 14 and a cupped coupling 30, and, a driven member 12 formed by a roll spindle 46 fast with a hub 34 of a coupling head 32, thick with the coupling 30 constitutes a friction clutch to drive the roll 82 at a first speed. The faster second speed is obtained by forcing the coupling head 32 radially into engagement with the cupped coupling by a pressure disc 64, Fig. 3, acting on the hub and journalled on a pivotable lever 54 which is maintained in its operative contact with the hub or out of contact with the latter by a toggle spring 72.
