Abstract

1442419 Detergents containing enzymes PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 13 Dec 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 57771/73 Heading G5D [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A cleansing composition for removing triglycerides from fabrics comprises 1-100 p.p.m. of a lipase enzyme and at least 50 p.p.m. of a borax salt of formula M 2 B 4 O 7 .xH 2 O where M is alkali metal and x is an integer from 6 to 11, in aqueous solution. The lipase may be of animal, plant or microbiological origin. The borax is preferably Na 2 B 4 O 7 .10H 2 O. The fabric is soaked in the above composition and thereafter washed in a conventional manner. Surfactants, e.g. soap and other anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants and ampholytic surfactants may be employed in the soaking step. Builders may also be present.
