Abstract

1442121 Telescopic capsules ELI LILLY & CO 23 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 49172/73 Heading B8C A telescopic, e.g. pharmaceutical, capsule which may be locked in a first, partially closed position (see Fig. 11) and a second, fully closed position (see Figs. 9 and 10) comprises a cap 21 having a cross-section substantially as shown in Fig. 10 and which is provided with one or more "T-shaped" ridges 19, 17 which are inwardly directed and co-operate with the end portion 26 of the capsule body 22 of enlarged diameter in the fully closed position to "lock" the capsule. In the partially closed position, the end portion 26 of the capsule body is in frictional contact with the axial portion 17 of the T-shaped ridge, the frictional force being sufficient to hold the capsule parts together under normal circumstances. The body portion of the capsule is described as comprising 5 zones: (i) the inwardly tapering end zone 26, (ii) the ogee curved construction 27, (iii) the essentially cylindrical zone 28, (iv) an inwardly tapering section 29 and, (v) the closed end section 30.
