1440997 Spring units METZELER AG 31 Aug 1973 [9 Sept 1972] 41161/73 Heading F2S A spring unit comprises a disc-like layer of rubber 26 between two plates 20, 21, and having at least one cavity 13 extending between the plates 20, 21, which cavity accommodates a spring element 24 which bears against at least one of the plates 20, 21, the spring element 24 having a natural length greater than the distance between the plates 20, 21 along the axis of the cavity 13. The spring element 24 may locate on projections 22, 23 or alternatively, as in Fig. 1 (not shown) may be conical with its larger end located as in Fig. 2 and its smaller end passing through an opening in the other plate and locating in the recess of the projection in a second, similar spring unit in contact with the first. The cavity 13 may be frusto-conical and the rubber layer 26 may be vulcanized to the plates.
