Abstract
1440155 Separating gases BAYER AG 29 July 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 33392/74 Heading B1L Gases are purified or separated in a process employing a storage vessel and at least three communicating adsorbent zones by venting a first charged adsorber first to the storage vessel and then to a second adsorber containing regenerated adsorbent which second vessel is then repressurised from the storage vessel, the first adsorber being purged with gas vented from the storage vessel and thereafter vented from the system, the gas to be purified or separated being passed to a third adsorber during the above steps after which it takes the place of the first adsorber and the sequence is repeated; the pressure in the storage vessel always being above the lowest pressure of the adsorber zones. Oxygen enrichment of air, CO 2 removal from combustion gases and methane removal from hydrogen are referred to. Conventional adsorbents are specified e.g. zeolites, active carbon, alumina.
