Abstract
1440029 Water supplies M SAKAMOTO 17 Sept 1973 [24 Jan 1973] 43517/73 Heading E1X [Also in Division B1] Rain catching apparatus comprises a support 18 having a planar portion provided with a hole 22, and a frustoconical wall diverging from the planar portion and arranged partly round the planar portion; and a transparent cover 16 comprising a hollow member having a tapering side wall, an open base and an open apex and being provided with a rim about the open base, and an arcuate collecting trough arranged within the hollow member. For use as a rain catching apparatus the parts are assembled as shown in Fig. 4, preferably with frustoconical member 42 folded from a flat flexible sheet to increase the catching surface resting in the inverted cover 16 and supported towards its upper end by the arcuate collecting trough. After use to collect rain water the parts may be reassembled together with a vessel 12 (not shown) for use as distillation apparatus to distil the water collected (see Division B1) when the arcuate trough serves to collect distillate.
