Abstract

1439893 Printed circuit networks WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 14 Jan 1974 [26 Jan 1973] 01650/74 Heading H1R [Also in Division H3] A variable delay line comprises a meandering conductive strip 36 including electrically interactive segments 36<SP>1</SP> on a first substrate 34 and conductive members 40<SP>1</SP> on a second substrate 38, the two substrates being relatively movable so as to vary the electrical interaction between segments 36<SP>1</SP> and hence the characteristic of the delay line. Members 40<SP>1</SP> may not be electrically interconnected but preferably they are formed as parts of a meandering strip. Substrate 38 is slidably mounted on a frame 42 to which substrate 34 is secured by bolts (not shown) passing through apertures 60, 62, sliding of substrate 38 being effected by an adjustment screw 58. The substrates may be made of copper-clad p.t.f.e. fibreglass with strips of gold-plated copper embedded therein. The corners of the strips may be chamfered to reduce reflections.
