Abstract

1439843 Fixing wall panels to studs L E MARSHALL and R L LINDNER 13 June 1973 [14 June 1972] 28214/73 Heading E1W Wall panels are fixed to studs by one or more pairs of adhesive-coated units, each unit of a pair having an adhesive on one face for sticking it to a wall panel, e.g. 36 or a stud, e.g. 16, respectively, and the other face of one unit having an adhesive coating for bonding it to the other unit, said bond having less resistance to separation than that between said other unit and the stud or wall panel. Each unit may comprise a tape, or a short length thereof, or a disc, a number of units being employed in these latter cases. The first unit may be formed of a thin plastics foam material, and the second unit of a strip of relatively high quality paper, for adherence to a panel having a facing of relatively low quality paper. The second unit in this case has a substantially smooth non-coated face. The coated face may be initially covered by a cover strip. Screws can be used later to ensure a firm support for the panels.
