Abstract
1439693 Ceramic supports INTERNATIONAL PAPER CO 17 July 1973 [19 July 1972 (3)] 34069/73 Heading F2S [Also in Division D2] A resilient support 30 for paper in a papermaking machine (see Division D2) comprises a plurality of ceramic elements 32 held under compression by a cable 38, to provide a support surface 70. The elements 32 are made of alumina, silicon carbide, boron carbide or silicon nitride. The precompression is such that the support can flex without separation of the elements at either side. The cable is stainless steel set in polyurethane.
