Abstract

1438934 Analysis of chemical substances NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 13 Sept 1973 [5 July 1972] 31474/72 Heading G1B Apparatus for the analysis of a chemical substance, e.g. drugs and biological fluids such as urine, comprises filter paper 2 in the form of a roll, mounted on a pivot 3 attached to the bench 1, which is advanced along the upper surface of the bench by a pair of rollers 4, thin bore tubes 5 and 16 which act as pen to spread the samples and reagents respectively on the paper, heating elements 18 and 19 and a means 20 for examining the products of the reactions between samples and reagents. The tube 5 is fixed to a nut 6 on a rotatable screw-threaded bar 7 in brackets 8 and 9 attached to the bench 1, the bar being rotated using a belt drive 10 on to an electric motor 11, and switches 13 and 14 are placed in an electrical control circuit so as to change the direction of rotation of the bar 7 when either of them is operated.
