Abstract

1438284 Hand tool handles PEAR TREE TOOLS Ltd 21 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 39616/72 Heading B4K A hand tool handle adapted to hold any of several different tools has a head portion comprising first and second parts which are at least partly separable to permit insertion and removal of said tools and are arranged to be clamped together by clamping means to hold the tang or tang portion of a tool between them, the first part being formed on or secured to the handle and having one or more locating recesses and/or projections for locating a tang inserted on an inner face of said part, the second part having a heel pad adapted to act as a fulcrum and a pressure pad adapted to bear against an inserted tang or tang portion. The handle 1, Fig. 1, is a moulded plastics member having a head portion 2 with a flat blade-supporting surface 3, a shoulder 4 for abutting the rear edge of a blade, a hole 5 for a fixing bolt, projections 8 which may engage the edges of a scraper blade 9, a recess 6 for a trimming knife blade 7 and a semicircular recess 11 for the stern of a shave-hook tool (Fig. 8, not shown). A separate clamping part 20 with heel 21 and clamping pad 23 is adapted to be fastened to the head portion 2 by means of a bolt and nut. A wall paper seam roller (Fig. 10, not shown) may be used with the handle.
