Abstract
1437361 Monosilane DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 29 May 1973 [30 May 1972] 25606/73 Heading CIA [Also in Division C3] Monosilane and hydrogen silane esters are made by disproportionation of hydrogen silane esters of the formula wherein R denotes alkyl and/or alkoxyalkyl, and x is 1, 2 or 3, into at least one of H 2 Si(OR) 2 , HSi(OR) 3 and Si(OK) 4 on the one hand, and at least one of SiH 4 , H 3 Si(OR) and H 2 Si(OR) 2 on the other, in the presence of a catalyst which is (a) iron, manganese or an element of Groups Ia, IIa, IIb, IIIa (including the Lanthanide and Actinide Series) or IIIb of the Periodic Table, in elemental or combined form (other than a halide or cyanide of a transition metal element, i.e. a metal having partly filled d off f shells in any of their commonly occurring oxidation states) or (b) an organic nitrogen compound other than those which undergo spontaneous decomposition. The catalyst may be used in quantities varying from 0À001 to 2% by weight. Preferred catalysts include metallic Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Al, La, Ce, Th, U, Fe or Mn; ferrous sulphate or an iron acetylacetonate, manganese carbonate or manganese acetylacetonate; an oxide, hydroxide, carbonate, bicarbonate, alcoholate, phosphate, halide, silicate or borate of Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs; an oxide, chloride, carbonate, acetate, alcoholate or acetylacetonate of Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba; and an amino acid, amine, carboxylic acid amide, phosphoric or phosphonic acid amide or heterocyclic nitrogen compound.
