Abstract

1437178 Extruding silicon carbide UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 16 Aug 1973 [24 Aug 1972] 39604/72 Heading B5A A mixture of alpha silicon carbide, carbon, and binder is extruded along a path which is arcuate in the direction of extrusion, to form arcuate segments which are formed into rings, after removing the binder whilst the segments are supported in profiled grooves in a graphite block to avoid distortion, and after siliconizing by the method of Specification 1,180,918. The extrusion along an arcuate path, is effected from the bore 2 of a die 1 which is curved in the extrusion direction, and is of retangular section.
