Abstract

1436708 Laminated conveyer belting DUNLOP Ltd 25 July 1973 [3 Aug 1972] 36219/72 Heading B5N Conveyer belting having substantial transverse rigidity for passenger conveying comprises a flexible compounded polymeric core 3 of average hardness at least 75 BS degrees and layers 1, 2 of transversely arranged reinforcing elements bonded thereto. Polymeric outer layers 4, 5 may be present. The core 3 may be of hard rubber or softer material compounded with carbon black, phenolic resin, polypropylene powder or glass microspheres, and may include longitudinal reinforcement 6. As shown this is embedded in a sheet 7 in a multilayer core. The elements 1 may be brass-plated steel cords or carbon, glass or aromatic polyamide fibres and the reinforcement 6 may be of textile or steel fabric, cords or wire (including zinc-plated steel cords). The core 3, sheet 7 and outer layers 4, 5 may be compounds of natural rubber, SBR/ natural rubber and neoprene rubber respectively.
