Abstract
1436387 Labelling machine BETTER BUILT ENG CORP 30 May 1973 [15 Sept 1972] 25834/73 Heading B8F A support for a label applicator of the type in which a label is stripped from a backing strip, held by vacuum against a grid 97, and then blown by compressed air on to an article, comprises a base 17 and an elongate compressed air chamber within a column 19 which extends upwardly from the base 17 and on which the applicator is mountable in any one of a plurality of positions along the column. The chamber is connected at its lower end to an air compressor 39 and at its upper end, via a pressure regulator 53 and a valve 101, to the label applicator. A water drain pipe 35 is provided at the bottom of the chamber. A pressure switch 47 controls an electric motor 41 which drives the compressor 39. The applicator is mounted by a column clamp 59 for vertical adjustment on the column. Pivotal adjustment of the applicator about two transverse axes is provided by a pivotal connection between a bar 75 and the column clamp 59 and by pivotally mounting stub shafts 81 on the applicator in clamps 79 which are secured to arms 73, (71), Fig. 2 (not shown), extending from the bar 75. The base carries rollers 23 and levelling devices 25.
