Yarns, warping and beaming. - In creels for warping or beaming machines of the type wherein groups of bobbins on revoluble holders f, Fig. 3, are employed, the end of the thread from one bobbin being connected to the beginning of the thread of another bobbin, yarn cleaning and tensioning devices are employed of the kind comprising disks, rings, cups, &c. revolving with freedom of movement around fixed pivots, or around pivots or sleeves on revoluble disks which themselves are mounted on fixed pivots or have pivots rotating in holes or bearings ; or the tension-devices may comprise balls or rollers mounted on seatings and held in position by their weight or by pivots or other balls. The yarns pass between the disks &c. and their seatings in directions not radial thereto and may engage notches on the disks &c., whereby these are rotated. The disks &c. are caused to dance on their seatings to enable dirt to pass through the seatings. The yarns may be guided by notched plates or guide eyes or hooks. When balls &c. are used, one side of the seating may have a notch or gap for the yarn. In the arrangements shown, the yarns pass between disks k, l, Fig. 6. The upper disk l turns on the sleeve m of the lower disk k, which turns on a pin o on a plate p secured by a wing-nut s and boltt to the creel rail a. The plate p has an arm or hook u, Fig. 5, to facilitate the introduction of the yarn into a guide-notch h. The upper disk l has an outer flange and central orifice, carries one or more annular weights n, and has its lower face recessed or grooved. A finger v on the plate p prevents yarn from being accidentally passed beneath the disk. Specifications 22232/08 and 18075/09 are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the yarn cleaning and tensioning devices may be applied to other creels. and the tensioning device may be fixed or movable into position by the yarn tension.
