1436140 Magnetic materials EASTMAN KODAK CO 12 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42898/73 Addition to 1395704 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] Magnetic recording tapes include a layer containing crystalline particles of Fe 3 O 4 with a minimum acicularity ratio not below 15 and containing alkali metal ions sufficient to confer a basicity of at least 0À04 meq./gram. The crystals may also contain alkaline earth metal ions and may be doped with di- or tri-valent metals. The Fe 3 O 4 may be made by the methods of Specification 1,395,704.
