1436081 CinÚ cameras BOLEX INTERNATIONAL SA 27 June 1974 [27 June 1973] 28492/74 Heading G2E A cinÚ camera has means which enter a cassette therein and provide guiding means for guiding the film in a sinuous path as it passes from one chamber to another in the cassette through a narrow slot, the sinuous path keeping the film clear of the edges of the slot. The camera is a silent camera which is, however, being used with a cassette containing a film having a sound track attached thereto before exposure. The cassette has a dark chamber, from which the film passes into a chamber where, in a sound camera, the sound recording would be effected, the film then returning into the dark chamber. These two chambers communicate by narrow slots, which may have sharp edges which could scratch the film emulsion. The camera may have two pins 10 with tapered tips, which enter into the cassette sound chamber when the cassette is inserted into the camera recess 5, and facilitate location of the film 7 in the required sinuous curve. An alternative arrangement is shown in Fig. 2, in which the film passes below a roller 24 and above a roller 22. Roller 22 is carried at the end of an arm 21 pivoted on an axle 26. Either by closing camera lid 4 or by any other suitable means roller 22 is pivoted from an inactive position (as shown in broken line) into engagement with the film, lifting it clear of the edge 26 of the slot through which it passes back to the dark chamber. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the same lifting effect is obtained by an eccentric wheel (31), and in Fig. 4 (not shown) by a narrow passage formed between blocks 41 and 42.
