Abstract

1436026 Shaped fibre-reinforced plastics laminates DORNIER GmbH 21 June 1974 [5 July 1973] 27617/74 Heading B5N Hollow cross-section fibre-reinforced plastics articles 2, 9 comprise fibrous laminae having adjacent edges which do not overlap, the laminae providing fibres disposed longitudinally, laterally and diagonally of the article axis. The laminae may be impregnated with plastics before or after placing about a core 1, from which the article is removed after hardening. Shaping about the core may be assisted by a tool or vacuum bag. In Fig. 1 the core has a groove 3 containing a rubber strip 4; removal of the strip leaves a space for the insertion of a lever to remove the article. In Fig. 3 the core is supported at 12 on a base 13 to permit the formation of flanges 14, 15. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a circular cross-section article. The said adjacent edges may abut or be spaced at 6. The article may comprise laminae having, successively, longitudinal, lateral, diagonal and diagonal orientation, the latter two laminae being oppositely disposed. Two laminae may be combined in one fabric.
