Abstract

1435974 Determining position of an object photo-electrically CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VE 8 Aug 1973 37684/73 Heading G1A An arrangement for determining the position of an object with reference to an optical aiming line determined as the line connecting the centres of a light beam transmitter 1 including a semiconductor and a light beam receiver 2 including a semi-conductor sensitive to the wavelength and modulation of the transmitted light beam, the transmitter and receiver each having a slot of which at least one dimension is the same in the transmitter slot 11 as in the receiver slot 21 and is parallel thereto, a screen 31 being attached to the object and being arranged to interrupt the light beam whereby a corresponding variation of output signal is produced (Fig. 4). The semi-conductor photodetector (25) Fig. 5 (not shown) is supported so that it is illuminated at constant intensity by a light emitting diode (26) whereby the working point of the detector is at maximum sensitivity and the effects of variations of ambient illumination are reduced. The arrangement forms part of a building machine, a finisher Fig. 8 (not shown) or of a lathe Fig. 11 (not shown).
