Abstract

1435581 Removal of photographic film from containers EASTMAN KODAK CO 11 May 1973 [15 May 1972] 22633/73 Heading G2X Apparatus for use in winding on to a coded take-up reel 10 a film from a coded film container after the container has been conditioned to permit film to be withdrawn therefrom, comprises: a spindle 12 for reel 10 (which is coded to identify the type of film to be wound thereon); means settable in accordance with the code of reel 10 for establishing a first condition corresponding to the type of film; means 6 effective when enabled for conditioning a film container; means for sensing the coded indicia of the container (which correspond to the type of film therein) and for establishing a second condition corresponding to this type of film; and means responsive to the first and second conditions for enabling the conditioning means when these conditions are for the same type of film. This ensures that only films requiring the same processing are wound on to a reel. The code on the reel may be a ring 22 or 24 which is sensed by one of a series of levers 26 which closes a corresponding switch S 1 (or S 2 ). A manually operated switch may also be provided for use with visual codes. The code on the film container may be sensed by a convention fluidic system. The signals produced by sensing the codes may be compared by a discriminator having a plurality of AND gates.
