1433601 Self-processing cameras and film units EASTMAN KODAK CO 5 July 1973 [5 July 1972] 32052/73 Headings G2A and G2X A self-processing camera separates, after exposure, the image-recording portion of the selfprocessing film unit from the remaining supporting element which carries the container of processing material by guide means which engage laterally extending lugs on the film unit at its leading end. As shown in Fig. 1, the carrier sheet 16 has a transverse metal stiffening bar 42 whose ends 44 extend laterally beyond the side edges of the sheet 16, and which constitute lugs. A slidable feeder plate 110 has fingers 138 at each end, seen more clearly in Fig. 4 (not shown), and as it slides forward the fingers engage behind the lugs 44 and feed the stiffening bar 42, and hence the film unit, forward into the nip between pressure rollers 112,114. As the container 14 of processing material passes between the rollers, it is ruptured, and the material spread between the sheets of the film unit in known manner. The inherent stiffness of the imagerecording sheet 12 causes it to pass forward after leaving the rollers and out of the camera through an exit slot 134. A pair of guide shoes 144 are mounted on the camera housing adjacent the ends of the rollers, the shoes having arcuate guide surfaces 152. As the film unit passes out from between the rollers, the lugs 44 engage against these guide surfaces, and thus bar 42 is diverted partially round roller 112, as shown in Fig. 8. Bar 42, and hence the carrier sheet 16, which is now waste material, is guided downwards and backwards by guiding surfaces 163 of ramp members 98 into an internal storage compartment 96.
