Folding and collapsible vehicles; caravans; bodies; vehicles with berths, table &c. fittings, and toilet compartments. - Collapsible caravans are constructed of a floor part mounted on wheels and provided with removable uprights d which are braced by diagonal guys and carry a removable roof frame, the walls, partitions, and roof cover being constructed of canvas or the like. The floor s is supported on transverse beams c which tie together a pair of longitudinal boxgirders a, b comprising four longitudinal members g - - j, struts k, and longitudinal and transverse wire bracing n. The uprights d are mounted in sockets u on the girder members, i and pass through eyes carried by the members g, and are fitted at their upper ends with brackets z to which are attached wall-ties v, eaves stringers v<x>, and roof members t, the stringers v<x> being also connected to the roof members by metal plates 3. The roof frame may be provided with additional longitudinal members 5 and a hood or lantern 10. The canvas walls e, which may contain windows of xylonite &c., are detachably secured to the wall-ties v and to a rail p carried by the girder member i. The caravan may be divided into three compartments by canvas par. titions 24 provided with doors 25. Compartment 20 is provided with sanitary and toilet fittings, compartment 21 with a removable table 30, seats 31, cupboards 40, writing-table 41, and sideboard 42; and compartment 22, serving as a kitchen, is fitted with a seat 31, dresser 45, stove 46, and cupboards 47. The seats 31 can be converted into beds, and comprise a frame 32 hinged to the floor girder at 34 to give access to the interior of the girder, and a frame 33 hinged to the frame 32 at 35 and provided with hinged legs 36 to support the frame in the position shown in dotted lines. The caravan is adapted to be drawn by a motortractor.
