Abstract

1432898 Electro-chemical cell with temperature sensor RADIOMETER AS 21 March 1974 [22 March 1973] 12574/74 Heading G1N An electro-chemical cell comprises an electrolyte containing measuring chamber 15 partly defined by a semi-permeable membrane 16, a cathode 14 adjacent membrance 16, an anode 13 spaced from membrane 16 and a temperature sensor 22 positioned on and in good thermal contact with the anode. The cathode is preferably in the form of a ring contacting the membrane and the andoe is in the form of a bobbin arranged along the axis of the ring and has a resistance wire sensor wound thereon. The anode is preferably silver, at least in the part which contacts the electrolyte, the remainder being optionally of a good heat conductor. The sensor is preferably nickel wire and the windings are protected by a plastics sheath 24. The cathode may be gold or platinium and the electrolyte potassium chloride. The cell is used to measure oxygen or carbon monoxide by applying a voltage and measuring the cell current. The temperature sensor permits compensation for different temperatures of solutions being measured.
