Abstract

1432806 Polyurethane foams SCOTT PAPER CO 17 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 18390/73 Heading C3R A super-soft hydrolytically stable polyurethane foam comprises the reaction product of a polyester polyol, a polyisocyanate, a catalyst and a blowing agent, the polyol and polyisocyanate being in a combination consisting of: (a.) polyester polyol of OH No. 70 to 85 and isocyanate in an amount equal to an index of about 60; or (b) such polyol of OH No. 85 to 105 with such index from 60 to 70; or (c) such polyol of OH No. 105 to 135 and such index from 60 to 90. The "index" is the ratio of the actual amount of isocyanate to that theoretically required for complete reaction X100. Numerous polyesters, polyisocyanates, catalysts, blowing agents and surfactants are mentioned. In specific examples the following materials are used: glycol adipate polyester polyols of OH Nos. 56, 112 and 131 and blends thereof of OH Nos. 70 and 90; 80/20 and 65/35 mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-toluene diisocyanates; a mixture of 70% di(N,N<SP>1</SP>-morpholinoethyl)ether and 30% 1,4-dimethyl piperazine, dimethyl ethanolamine or a proprietary silicone-amine catalyst; water; and a proprietary organo-silicone surfactant.
