Abstract
1431107 Mandrels for yarn winders MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 10 Aug 1973 [7 Sept 1972] 38034/73 Heading DIJ A sleeve 2, for a tube 11 on which a package is to be wound, carries at one end yarn cutting ring 6 that has circumferentially extending teeth 12 pointing away from the end face of the tube 11, each tooth having an inner cutting edge 16, Fig. 2. Facing the ring 6 is a yarn catching ring 4 that has a conical yarn guide surface 17, this surface 17 extending at least partly under the teeth 12 when the tube 11 is pushed fully on the sleeve 2. The rings 4 and 6 also act as yarn clamping means. The yarn clamping means may be a gap between the rings 4 and 6. This gap (19), Fig. 3 (not shown) may be a rectangular one. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the gap (23) is V- shaped. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the gap (25) is defined by the boundary between a conical surface (24) on the ring 4 and a resilient ring (27) on the end face of the ring 6. The invention is applicable to co-axial bobbins when used for winding-up continuously supplied yarn. As the yarn leading to a fully wound package is moved across to the empty sleeve 2 it slides over the conical surface 17 into the yarn clamping gap (19, 23 or 25) and hence into the range of the teeth 12 where the yarn is cut. At the same the yarn passes through the gaps between the teeth 12 and onto the tube 11 where reserve windings 32 are first wound. After these reserve windings have been applied a package 33 is built up by establishing a regular traversing stroke.
