1430714 Facilitating passage over steps or stairs; hand trolleys E P LINSLEY 18 June 1974 26952/74 Headings B7D and B7B A cart for transporting television sets up and down stairs comprises a frame, rear wheels 44, 45 mounted on the frame, front wheels 30, 31 connected to the frame by pivoted arms 23, 24 so as to be movable between forward and backward positions defined by respective stops 51, 52, a spring 34 biasing the front wheels 30, 31 into the forward position, and a pull-back lever 42 which is disposed in a position of convenient actuation by the foot of an operator stationed at the rear of the cart and is connected by linkage 43, 19, 35 to the arms 23, 24 for moving the front wheels 30, 31 into the backward position against the bias of the spring 34. A lifting device for raising articles when the cart is up ended on the rear wheels 44, 45 comprises a lifting platform 50 carried by an automotive type jack 49 movable along a jack rod 18 attached to the frame. A holding strap connected to a tightening device 58 terminates in a hook 57 engageable with an aperture in the lifting platform 50. A handle structure 59 removably mounted on the frame is provided with castor wheels 67, 69 on which the cart can be moved as an alternative to the wheels 44, 45.
