Abstract

1430712 Coated products BAYER AG 16 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 21740/74 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C3 and H1] Heat scalable temperature-resistant sheet material is obtained by applying to a temperature-resistant plastics sheet, e.g. of polyhydantoin, a solution of a partially fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon with a molecular weight of 1000-500,000 which is solid at room temperature, e.g. fluorinated ethylene-propylene copolymer or polyvinylidene fluoride, in a solvent mixture of (a) 10-60 vol % of at least one chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon containing 1-6 carbon atoms and having a B.pt. of 30- 150‹C and (b) 90-40 vol % of at least one alkyl ester of a polybasic aromatic carboxylic acid or at least one ketone having a boiling point of 80-250‹C, and then removing the solvent. Solvent constituent (b) is preferably an ester of benzene di-, tri-, or tetracarboxylic acid and an aliphatic alcohol of 1-18 C atoms. The preferred solvent mixture is 10-60 vol % of 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane and 90-40 vol % of dimethylphthalate.
