Abstract
1430493 Steam generator HITACHI Ltd 5 Feb 1974 [16 Feb 1973] 5347/74 Heading F4A In a steam generator thermal stress in a tube plate 3 of the water header 5 is reduced by placing an intermediate heating liquid in a reservoir 2 above the tube plate 3, the intermediate heating liquid having a density greater than the heating liquid or water and being physically and chemically inert to the heating liquid and water. In the embodiment described the heating liquid is sodium and the intermediate heating liquid is mercury. Other examples of the intermediate heating liquid are bismuth, indium or an alloy of a combination of two or more of sodium, mercury, bismuth, lead and indium.
