1429940 Automatic fish striking N F BIDWELL 12 Dec 1973 [15 Dec 1972] 58036/72 Heading A1A A two part fishing lure comprises a cap attached by at least one line to a body which houses at least one concealed hook which is released upon striking. The cap and body separate upon striking. In one form, Fig. 4 (Prov), the lure comprises a longitudinally slotted body 1 which may be slidable upon line 3. Hook lines are fastened to a correspondingly slotted end cap 7, which is non-slidably secured to the line and have their hooks retained in recessed ramps 5 of the body slots 4 either by friction or resilient bands located in circumferential grooves 6. Upon striking, the cap and body are separated a distance determined by a line stop (not shown) and the hooks ride up the recessed ramps 5. The body 1 need not have an axial bore 2 in which case the longitudinal slots 4 and hook lines extend to the end of the body with the hook lines being connected to a stop behind the body. Alternatively the recessed ramps may communicate with a short axial bore with the hook lines being extended into the bore and again tied to the stop. The body may be formed in sections and the slots and grooves may be twisted to encourage spinning. In the Fig. 8 (comp) form the body comprises top and bottom plates 14, 13 spaced by forward and rear pairs of bottom plate curved projections 15, 16 and 17, 18. One hook lies in each space formed between projections 16, 18 and 15, 17 and one lies around projection 17. Upon striking, the shape of the projections causes the first two hooks to move laterally and the third hook to move upwardly through slot 20. The plates are shaped to cause wobbling.
