Abstract

1428386 Ratchet clutch T ROBINSON 26 June 1973 [26 June 1972] 29796/72 Heading B3N [Also in Division F2] A drive between two parts 11, 13 is by a strut or struts 19 located between opposed surfaces, stop means, circlip 16, limits separation of the two parts such that the distance therebetween is less than the length of a strut, resilient means, plastics ring 20, urge the ends of the strut or struts into engagement with recesses in the opposed surfaces. There may be one or two rings of rollers and the resilient means may be a ring of sheet spring steel or a length of spring steel wire wrapped around each roller. A drive spigot 24 has two balls 27, 28 projecting therefrom to engage in annular grooves 25, 26 so that the spigot can project from either side of the member 13. The balls engage concave ramps 37, 38 formed on members 35, 36 that are biased by spring 41 such that the balls are forced outwardly. A ball is moved from its annular groove by movement of the respective member 35 or 36. Reference is made to Specification 1,428,387.
