Abstract

1428156 Cathode-ray tube displays HONEYWELL INFORMATION SYSTEMS Inc 30 Oct 1973 [12 Jan 1973] 50477/73 Heading H4T An information display system of the kind in which a refresh memory supplies character specifying data to a character generator producing corresponding "video" (bright-up) signals for intensity modulation of a line scanned raster on a television type cathode-ray tube monitor is controlled in accordance with the frequency of the A.C. mains power supply to the monitor such that the refresh rate (frame rate) occurs at the A.C. frequency and the characters are produced at the same positions on the tube screen irrespective of such frequency. The system is controlled by a basic 1 HMz clock the output of which under control of the selected A.C. power supply frequency is suitably divided to provide address and transfer signals for the refresh memory, which comprises a random access memory, and to provide suitable signals for a character counter, a line counter and a row counter. The described embodiment is concerned with systems operating at; 60 Hz A.C. mains frequency using a 525 line raster of 30 frames (=two interlaced fields) per second and with systems operating at 50 Hz A.C. mains frequency using a 629 line raster of 25 frames (=two interlaced fields) per second
