Abstract

1426920 Making corrugated paper-board O DORRIES GmbH 16 May 1973 [26 March 1973] 23256/73 Heading B5N A machine for producing corrugated paperboard comprises means such as reel 5 for supplying a web, a station 8 for corrugating the web, a station 9 for applying glue to one side of the corrugated web, means such as reel 4 for supplying a covering web for the glued side of the corrugated web, a pressing station 10 for bonding the webs to form single-faced corrugated board, a storage zone 13 for the board, means such as reel 16 for taking-up the board at this stage if desired, means such as reel 28 for supplying (if desired) a corrugated board which has already been covered on one side, a further gluing station 17 for gluing the uncovered side either of the board made on the machine and coming from the storage zone or of the board coming from reel 28, further means such as reel 6 for supplying a covering web for the glued, uncovered side of the board, means such as stack 19 for supplying individual sheets (preferably printed) to cover the glued side of the board, and a further pressing station 18 for bonding the further covering web or the individual sheets to the uncovered side of the board. The machine may additionally comprise heating and cooling zones 20, 21, a device 23 for equalizing out fluctuations in length of the webs, a longitudinal cutting and grooving appliance (22), a rotary cross-cutter (24), a sheet trap (25) for separating faulty sheets and a stacking station (26) for the good sheets. A longitudinal cutter 14 may also be provided when it is desired to take up the single-faced board. The cutters 14 (and 22) can be for edge trimming or for dividing the board into parallel bands of substantial width.
