Abstract
1426893 Rectifying; switching systems V R LEPP K M SIBGATULIN and J N CHERKASOV 14 April 1973 18080/73 Headings H2F and H2H Apparatus for controlling the flow of power between an alternating current source 42 and a load 94 comprises controlled rectifiers 55 ... 60 arranged to control the conduction angle on respective half cycles of the A.C. from source 42, each controlled rectifier 55 ... 60 being triggered at an appropriate time in the respective half cycle by a circuit connected between its anode and control electrode and comprising at least one winding 69 ... 80 on a saturable reactor and a diode 87, 90, the main winding 43 ... 54 on the saturable reactor being in series with the load 94, D.C. control windings 61 ... 66 being also included on the saturable reactor(s). The circuit also includes a choke 93 in series with the load 94. As shown in Fig. 3, the invention is applied to control of the thyristors 55...60 of a three-phase bridge feeding a D.C. load 94. The saturable reactors have six cores 49 ... 54 and are arranged to trigger the appropriate thyristor 55 ... 60 when the load current passes through zero and the core reverses its saturated state. Fig. 1 (not shown) relates to a circuit for control of a A.C. load and uses a pair of thyristors in anti-parallel, connected via a centre-tapped inductor. Fig. 2 (not shown) relates to a circuit using a singlephase bridge of four thyristors for controlling the current in a A.C. or D.C. load. Figs. 4 ... 10 (not shown) depict waveforms showing the operation of the circuit.
