Abstract

1426885 Mounting clutch discs on hubs; metal springs SOC ANON FRANCAISE DU FERODO 31 July 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 36423/73 Headings F2U and F2S A torsion damping device (e.g. a motor vehicle clutch plate) comprises three coaxial relatively rotatable parts of which two (e.g. hub flange 13 or an outer disc 16 and a pair of sideplates 15, 15<SP>1</SP> connected by spacer rivets 19) are connected by circumferentially acting resilient means (e.g. springs 20, which may be in three sets of different size and with different initial angles of operation), the third being connected with one of these two by lost motion means (e.g. loose splines between the hub 10 and its flange 13 or clearance holes 50 in the flange 13 for the rivets 19) and a centralizing spring 40, 140, 240, 340 having at least a part 41, 141, 241, 341 lying in a plane normal to the axis of rotation. The device may include a friction damper comprising linings 57 ... 60 loaded by either the spring 340, a supplementary leaf-spring 55 or an interposed corrugated spring washer (35), Fig. 2 (not shown). The spring 40, 140, 240, 340, may have any of the forms shown, and is in each case held on a side-plate 15 by a small plate 145, 245, 345 on one of the rivets, and engages recesses 52, 343 in the hub 13.
