Abstract

1426651 Animal feeding apparatus CHORE-TIME EQUIPMENT INC 3 Jan 1974 00175/74 Heading AIM A feeder for turkeys comprises a conveyor 18 fed from a hopper and feed dispensing assemblies each having a feed pan 36 disposed beneath a hood, a control cylinder 86 controlling the flow of feed into the pan 36 from a distributing member 34 and support means 92 for the cylinder. One end of the support means 92 rests on the pan 36 and the other end is adjustably connected to the cylinder 86 so that it may be adjusted vertically relative to the pan 36. The pan 36 has a conical flange 62 to catch dropped food. Feed falls through openings 28 in the conveyor 18, which has an auger 24 to move the food, into the pan 36. The pan 36 is supported by spokes 78 attached to the hood 44. The feed dispensing assembly 20 at the end of the conveyor 18 remote from the hopper is provided with a limit switch with a diaphragm sensitive to the pressure of excess food and controlling distribution by the conveyor means 18. The conveyor means 18 and feed assemblies 20 are supported by cables hung from the roof of the building. To prevent perching on the conveyor 18 an electrified wire 30 is provided above said conveyor 18. The hood may be provided with a skirt member 56 which extends outwardly to give protection against rain when the feeder is used in the open.
