Abstract

1425281 Ice-cream making APAW SA 19 April 1974 [20 April 1973] 17248/74 Heading F4H An ice cream freezer comprises a stationary cylindrical chamber 2 surrounded by an evaporator coil 3, the chamber 2 having an inlet port 5 and delivery port 6; a stationary shaft 19 coaxial with the chamber 2; mixing bars 15 connected together by cross-bars 16 and 116; and a scraping element 31 connected to a radial arm 30. The shaft 19 has two helical intersecting grooves 22, 23, one of which is a righthanded screw-thread and the other left-handed. The radial arm 30 is attached to a sleeve 24 mounted on the shaft 19. The sleeve 24 is provided with a radial bore 25, within which is disposed a cylindrical block 27 having a pin 28 meshing with the grooves 22 and 23. In operation of the freezer, a pulley 13 rotates, via a linkage pin 12, a bearing 17 in the bar 16 about the central shaft 19. The bar 116 is provided with a through bore 18 for the shaft 19 to allow the mixer blades 15 to rotate in conjunction with the scraping element 31. The scraper 31 is consequently axially reciprocated along the chamber 2.
