Abstract

1425170 Apparatus for applying capsules to bottle necks ANDERSEN & BRAUN (ENGLAND) Ltd 28 Sept 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 36097/72 Heading B8T A machine for affixing foil capsules to the necks of filled containers closed by crown corks comprises a conveyer screw 2 for moving the containers, the containers being located on the support of a base 1 of the machine having a friction wall 3 for contacting the sides of the containers whereby, they are rotated about their own axes while they are moved along by the conveyer screw 2, a pair of contra-rotating brushes 4, 4 for pressing the capsules against the neck of the containers and an extension comprising a pair of resilient bands 5 running round vertical pulleys for further pressing the foils against the containers necks as the containers rotate about their own axes to cause the capsules to be perforated by the peripheral projections of the crown corks. The inner reaches of the bands 5 move in the same direction.
