Abstract

1423459 Drying washing H F ARENDT 19 June 1973 [26 July 1972] 28976/73 Heading F4G A drier for drying washing comprises a rotary drum having a circular intake and housed in a cabinet, the wall of the drum being directly heated and at least one exhaust fan 10 being connected to the cabinet. As shown the drum is fabricated from a plurality of tubular rings 1 having spacers 2 interposed therebetween, opening being provided between the rings and spacers. The tubular rings 1 are partially filled with a liquid the remainder of the spaces within the rings being exhausted. The rings 1 are heated by arcuate electrical radiant heating rods 11, the efficiency thereof being increased by their use with heat insulated arcuate reflectors 12. Entrainment means 3 are provided in the drum. The drum is driven and supported by rollers (Fig. 2, not shown). The illustrated drier is of a two-part continuousflow drum type. A drier for batch-type drying is also disclosed (Fig. 4, not shown). The maximum temperatures of the fluid in the tubular pipes may be controlled by the use of thermometers which control the heating of the pipes.
