Abstract
1423189 Moulding damp pulp E H CUMPSTON JNR 1 Oct 1973 45780/73 Heading B5A In a method of moulding a damp fibrous pulp containing 20-40% by weight of solid material, the pulp is fed to the nip 27 of a helically grooved feed roller 19 and a rotor 18 comprising teeth 23 spaced axially and radially whereby the pulp fibres are repeatedly acted upon by the teeth to straighten them and remove air and are fed to the inlet of a shaping channel 22 through which they are conveyed; the shaped product is then delivered to a dryer. The fibres are fed over a doctor blade 20 on to a ridged endless belt 21 supported by a table 30 and into the shaping channel comprising a fixed blade assembly 35, 36 and a vibrating blade assembly 37 comprising a part 38 carrying blades 39, 40. The latter are given an elliptical motion by an eccentric shaft 41 which assists in moving the fibres away from the rotor and into the channel. The pulp may be produced from waste paper soaked in water and from which excess water is drained; the damp waste is then defibred and refined before being fed to the nip 27.
