Abstract

1422996 Polyamide compositions SNIA VISCOSA SOC NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA 20 March 1973 [21 March 1972] 13192/73 Heading C3R Polyamide compositions are prepared by polymerizing an #-lactam or the corresponding amino-acid together with (a) 0À5 to 5 wt. per cent of a polyoxyalkylene glycol and (b) an emulsifiable oxidized polyethylene in an amount of 0À5 to 2 wt. per cent but not exceeding that of (a). The combination of additives is stated to improve mouldability and mould release properties while avoiding impairment of surface appearance. (a) Is preferably polyoxyethylene glycol of M.W. 1000 to 2000 but polyglycols of M.W. 20000 and polyoxy-propylene or -butylene glycol may also be used. Nucleating agents, e.g. Ca, Mg, Al or Zn borates, phosphates or silicates, and lubricants, e.g. Ca, Mg, Al, Pb, Zn or Ba stearates or oleates may also be present; in some specific examples, all of which relate to polycaprolactam, acetic acid, lamp black, sodium hypophosphite or zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate are also used.
