Abstract

1422448 Sound insulation HOESCH WERKE AG 12 April 1973 [14 April 1972] 17635/73 Heading F2X A sound absorbent device for use with pile driving apparatus comprises a rigid displaceable tube for surrounding the piling frame and a pile element to be driven, the tube having an opening extending over its complete height, door means for closing the opening, and wall means of sound absorbent material. The tube consists of a plurality of releasably connected sections, such as section 14<SP>111</SP> shown in Fig. 2 of various heights which permit the height of the whole tube to be adapted to the individual height requirements of any particular pile driving operation. The tube is supported at its upper end by a crane (Fig. 1, not shown) and is moved to the pile driving position, at which the piling frame 12 is already located on the jib of a further crane, until the frame 12 is inside the tube. The tube is then closed and piledriving is commenced. Each of the tube sections (such as 14<SP>111</SP>) is formed by frame elements 141 having U-shaped profiles, sandwiched or laminated plates 141<SP>1</SP>, and a filling 141<SP>11</SP> of foamed synthetic material, e.g. polyurethane, applied between the plates 141<SP>1</SP>. Closure flaps 142, 142<SP>1</SP> are provided, each comprising two panels inclined to one another, and hinged so as to pivot out in the direction of the arrows B, B<SP>1</SP>. The lowest section (14<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 1, not shown) has two opposed openings extending upwardly from the base for accommodating sheet piles 13<SP>1</SP> which have already been driven. The sheet pile 13 being driven is provided with a driving cap 122.
