Abstract

1421804 Dynamo-electric machines TEHSIUNG WU 29 Aug 1973 40582/73 Heading H2A A portable electrically operated device comprises an A.C. generator driven by a manually operated transmission mechanism and supplying electrical energy to a load forming part of the device. The device shown is a lamp and the generator comprises a permanent magnet rotor 18'surrounding a stator with interdigitated poles, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). The rotor 18 is driven by a chain of gears 11-17 on depression of a handle 20 against a spring. A clutch between gears 11 and 12 ensures that the return motion of the handle is not transmitted to rotor 18. With the switch 60 in the position shown, the stator winding 70 supplies a bulb 30 through a rectifier 45 and also charges a battery 50 through rectifier 40. With the switch in the other position, the bulb will be supplied from the battery.
