Abstract

1421306 Automatic gain control LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 1 March 1974 [1 March 1973] 9397/74 Heading H3Q An arrangement for the separate and simultaneous amplification of at least two high frequency voltages comprises a plurality of amplifier chains VZ, control voltage producing means VS, ES dependent on the output voltage of one amplifier and controlling all the amplifier trains and a switching means US for selectively feeding to an input of each amplifier train the associated high frequency or a control voltage. The arrangement is intended for use in a multiwave direction finder in which signals all of the same frequency are picked up on aerials A 1 - A y . The circuit ES selects from the signal outputs of the amplifiers the signal of greatest amplitude and the switch system US injects this into the amplifiers in alternation with the input signals. A number of phase-shifters PH 1 -PH y derive a 90 degree phase-shifted signal from each signal channel, and this together with the signal is applied to a corresponding computing device, comprising sample and hold circuits in conjunction with analogue to digital converters AH 1 -AH y and subsequent division circuits D 1 -D y which divide the pair of signals of the initially fed-in high frequency voltages with the corresponding control signals, thereby obtaining outputs independent of the gain and phase shift in each channel.
