Abstract
1420891 Cab locking devices AUTOMOBILES M BERLIET 8 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 00875/74 Heading E2A Locking apparatus for a vehicle tipping cab comprises a main locking catch 6 for retaining the cab C in a driving position including a locking member I movable to release the main catch, a movable release mechanism for control of the locking member such that movement of the release mechanism in the releasing direction causes release of the main locking catch and a pivotal safety member 9 including a cam surface 11 which at a first position of the member 9 engages a surface of the release mechanism to provide a locking effect preventing movement of the release mechanism in the releasing direction and which, when the safety member is pivoted to a second position, permits a releasing movement of the mechanism, with the safety member 9 in the first position an invertant attempt to move the release mechanism in the releasing direction causes an increase in the locking effect of the safety member. As shown, the locking member 1 is slidably mounted in a horizontal slideway 2 rigid with the frame F of the vehicle and is engageable, in the normal driving position of the cab C, with a fixed hook 6 carried by the cab and controlled by a control rod 3 disposed across the vehicle, movement of the rod in the releasing direction being also attended by the release of a safety hook 8. The rod 3 is connected to a pivoted control lever 5 and movement of the rod and lever are positively prevented in the release direction by the pivoted safety catch 9 the cam surface of which normally engages a link 4. The arm 14 of the spring-loaded catch 9 engages in a slot in the lever 5 and insertion into the latter of a bar 18 dislodges the arm to free the link 4 pivotally connected to the rod 3; depression of the bar rotates the link to firstly withdraw the bolt 7 from the hook 6 and then, by interaction between a cam 21 on the rod 3 and the safety hook 8, to release the latter for tilting of the cab.
