1420171 Aryl ethers CIBA-GEIGY AG 15 March 1973 [16 March 1972 16 Feb 1973] 12465/73 Heading C2C Novel compounds I in which R 1 is H, halogen, C 1-4 alkyl, vinyl or ethynyl, R 2 is H, halogen, CH 3 or C 2 H 5 , R 3 is H, halogen, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 alkoxy, and R 5 is H or halogen, or R 3 and R 5 together represent a carbon-carbon bond or an oxygen bridge, R 4 is H, halogen or CH 3 , R 6 is H or CH 3 , R 7 is cyclohexyl or a group of formula Y or Z in which R 8 is H, halogen, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 alkoxy and R 9 is H or n-propyl, Y is -CH 2 -, -CH(CH 3 )-, -C(CH 3 ) 2 -, -CH 2 O-, -OCH 2 -, -CH=CH-, -N=N- or a direct bond, and each of m and n is 0 or 1, are prepared by known etherification, epoxidation, hydrohalogenation or hydrogenation procedures. Insecticidal compositions comprise a compound I together with a solid or liquid extender and, optionally, known insecticides.
