Abstract

1420112 Apparatus for phototherapy F MAITAN and C VANNUCCHI 2 July 1973 [20 July 1972] 31467/73 Heading A5R Apparatus for phototherapy of babies comprises a chamber 3 made of transparent material within which is a bed 4 also of transparent material, and two groups of lights 6, 10 located respectively above and below the chamber whereby the whole of the baby's skin can be irradiated in for example the treatment of jaundice. Reflectors 7, 11 are provided for each group or lights, the edges 12 of the reflector 11 being inturned whereby the eyes of nursing staff are shielded from the lights. The chamber may contain a humidifier 17 a thermometer 15 and hygrometer 16 and a receptacle for the reception of urine. Sleeves 19 for the arms of nursing staff also serve to admit air into the chamber. The apparatus is supported on a wheeled trolley.
