Abstract

1419686 Cutting tool holder CLARKSON INTERNATIONAL TOOLS Ltd 22 Feb 1973 8791/73 Heading B3K In a tool holder for receiving cutting tools such as a milling cutter 7, the body 1 has a shank or arbor 2 at one end for engagement by the chuck of a machine tool. Screw threaded means, such as member or plug 5, extends axially of the body at the other end and is engageable with screw threads of the cutter 7. An annular abutment member 10 surrounds the axis of means 5 and is engaged by the cutter 7 in its screwed on position. The abutment member 10 is axially displaceable, such as by means of rotatable but axially-fixed annular control member 12 in screw-threaded engagement with member 10, so that the relative position of the cutter 7 to the body may be varied. The abutment member 10 may be secured to the body head 3 by spring-loaded bolts 11 and held against rotation by ball 21 engaging recesses in the member and head extension 3a. The plug 5 shown is screwthreaded into extension 3a by threads 4 of non-locking helix angle and engaged by release and locking screws 8, 9.
