Abstract

1418483 Jointing LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 June 1973 [22 April 1972] 18801/72 Heading B3V [Also in Division B4] A method of adhesively securing together two components 1, 3 comprises the steps of locating the components with adhesive therebetween within a chamber having at least one flexible wall 7 with one of the components resting against an abutment surface, and removing air from the chamber so as to cause the flexible wall to deform inwardly and thereby directly or indirectly hold the two components together until the adhesive has set. The components together with the chamber may be located within an oven to cure the adhesive, the pressure on the joint during curing being controlled by controlling the air pressure in the chamber.
