Abstract

1418291 Axial-flow fans LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 28 Nov 1972 [12 Jan 1972] 1380/72 Heading FIC [Also in Division G3] An N.T.C. resistor 15 in a water cooling system 16, e.g. of a vehicle, operates a relay 22, 23 through transistors 25, 26 to control a fan 18 and keep the temperature of the water constant. When the temperature is low the voltage across the resistor is high turning on the transistors and the relay is energized closing contacts 23, 28 which stops the fan and connects resistor 29 from the base of transistor 25 to line 10 reducing its bias and hence the current through the relay. This has the effect of making the differential of the relay smaller and it can be adjusted by varying the setting of resistor 29.
